Description

Our professor asked us to make a poster and interpret the song of "we didn't start the fire" by Billy Joel. ^_^

And also she asked us to pass a rationale.

Here is my rationale about the poster:

I chosen this stanza from the song entitled “We didn’t start the fire”:

“We didn't start the fire
It was always burning since the world's been turning.
We didn't start the fire
but when we are gone
It will still burn on, and on, and on, and on...”
-Billy Joel (We didn’t start the fire)

For me the meaning of this stanza is, we as a human being wouldn’t like to start the war but even though we liked to prevent the bad things that will happen during the war still we would fail to stop the tragedy that was cause by us. As long as we live and died in this world that we use still the war will never stop destroying each country

The first thing that I have done while doing my poster is, I have search for some images that would fit into my concept. Afterwards the things that I have use are luminosity and saturation; burn tool and blur tool; eraser (I erased the edges of the images that I have gotten from the deviantart.com and put a burning effect on it.

Second, the color concept that I have chosen for my poster are red, orange, yellow and purple. This color has each significant meaning to the word “war”. As we all know, red pertains blood, and as such has strong symbolism as life and vitality. It brings focus to the essence of life and living with emphasis on survival, orange pertains to power while yellow pertains to wisdom and people that has high intellect. Last but not the least is the color purple that has good judgment. It is the color of people seeking spiritual fulfillment and is used to symbolize magic and mystery, as well as royalty.

And Lastly I putted a quotation that has been said by Martin Luther King, “Without justice, there can be no peace. He who passively accept evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.” For me the meaning of this is, like what happened before in our country. It was colonized by the Spaniards, Americans and Japanese. Our ancestor fought to the end for freedom and justice. It also means that when someone saw a crime and did not do anything to prevent such crime is like being the perpetrator. The bottom line it is the nature of a person to strive to be free on whatever injustices done unto him.
